We’re in this Together

In the midst of these uncertain times, we are committed to supporting each other as a community, and we encourage everyone to take care of themselves – and of friends, family, neighbors, and fellow community members. Together, we can strengthen our shared bonds of humanity and community at a time when we need it the most.

In that spirit, we are sharing resources that our community may find helpful as we all continue to navigate daily life amidst the COVID-19 pandemic:

• The California Employee Development Department provides a variety of support services to individuals affected by COVID-19 in California. Learn about the various resources and benefits from their FAQ page.
• School districts across San Diego County are providing free, prepared meals to students during school closures. Any student can go to any school site providing meals and receive food.
• Learn about Feeding San Diego‘s services for collecting extra food from local businesses and food distribution sites throughout San Diego County.
• San Diego Workforce Partnership encourages workers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic to learn more about resources for unemployment, working parents, and benefits to those quarantined or sick.
• The Smithsonian Institution is committed to supporting teachers and students around the globe as they face unprecedented new learning challenges. On the Smithsonian Distance Learning Lab, teachers have access to millions of digital resources from across the Smithsonian’s museums, research centers, libraries, archives, and more.
• There are more than 2,500 world-class museums and galleries that are offering virtual tours and online collections.

Additionally, members of the Balboa Park Cultural Partnership, including the Museum of Man, have put together a variety of resources and activities for people to enjoy during their temporary closures, including:

• Balboa Park TV, which features playlists of videos from 21 Park institutions
• The Cultural Partnership’s Sustainability Program created a coloring book called “Every Day is Earth Day in Balboa Park,” and each page features several museums in the Park, including the Museum of Man
• A Live Chat feature
