What do you want to see in an exhibit about race and identity? We asked our local community this question as part of the multi-year project to update and re-design the “Race: Are We So Different?” exhibition.
Our goal? To create a community-driven exhibit that reflects both the San Diego region and the current national dialogue on race. We’re gathering perspectives and feedback on the current exhibit, and inviting locals to participate in one of two ways.
Anonymous Digital Surveys - Share your thoughts about the exhibit in a short survey during your visit. The survey takes about five minutes to complete, and asks guests to rate and reflect on the exhibition. As a thank you, participants will receive an enamel pin featuring the Museum's historic building and California Tower.
In-person Interviews - Join us for a one-hour long interview for an opportunity to contribute a deeper reflection of your perspective. Participants will receive compensation of $50, a Museum membership for one year (a $19.95 value), and an enamel pin featuring the Museum's historic building and California Tower. To participate, please email us at museum@museumofus.org.
The "Race: Are We So Different?" exhibition project is made possible in part by a grant from the Institute of Museums & Library Services (MA-249265-OMS-21).
